first I have noticed that team natsu have a fairy tale motif with each of them representing different characters. natsu represents the dragon (fun fact western dragons were shown to be impervious to magic and in fairy tail dragons are immune to any magical (physical )attack thats not dragon slaying magic. lucy is the princess (vergo calls her that ) and gray is the ice PRINCE, wendy is the SKY Sorceress (and in those fairy tales the sorceress is typically a supporting character and wendy...
